World University Rankings: Bocconi in the European Top 10 in Business, Economics and Finance
An important confirmation for Bocconi in the rankings by QS, rating the best schools in the world in 42 different subject areas. The University makes a strong showing, placing in the European top 10 in all the rankings in which it is present. The 2016 QS World University Rankings by Subject shows Bocconi in fact 10th worldwide and 6th in Europe in the area of business and management, 17th worldwide and 5th in Europe for economics and econometrics and 27th worldwide and 7th in Europe for finance and accounting.
"The most difficult thing is not to enter the rankings but to continue through the years to confirm and improve one's positions," says Stefano Caselli, Vice Rector for International Affairs at Bocconi. "Competition among universities is becoming increasingly important and it is not enouch to just work only on yourself. It is vital to become a best practice example which other schools look to. In this sense, the QS rankings are very challenging because they refer to a large number of schools and criteria."
The ranking, put together by QS, an international network dedicated to education and the professions, includes 42 rankings divided by subject area. A total of around 4,225 universities were assessed, 945 of which were then included in the ranking. The ranking was created by evaluating four parameters: academic reputation based on a survey of academics, reputation among employers (based on recruiter opinions), research citations per paper and the H-Index, which measure the prolificacy and impact of research publications.
