A Week Dedicated to Sensibilization: The HIV/AIDS Awareness Week Starts Monday
In recent months, Ebola has conquered the front pages of newspapers and it has become one of the main worries of people, international organizations and governments. But we must not forget another disease, that has characterized these decades and is still now spread among too many people worldwide. Università Bocconi is part of "Universities unite against HIV: With the head and with the heart" and next week, through several events organized by student associations, will host the "HIV-AIDS awareness week". From Monday to Thursday there will be information desks at the Velodromo and in Sarfatti. It starts on Monday 1 December, from 9am to 5pm, when the association Bocconi Equal Students (BESt) will be at the Velodromo for the World AIDS Day; on Tuesday the 2nd, Wednesday the 3rd and Thursday the 4th there will be information desks both in Velodromo and Sarfatti, from 11:30am to 2:30pm. These desks will be handled by BESt and other student associations, together with representatives from the Italian League Against Aids (LILA) (on Wednesday and Thursday).
In addition, don't miss a screening of Dallas Buyers Club, organized by BESt for the awareness week. The movie, Oscar nominee for Best Movie in 2014, will be shown at via Sarfatti, in classroom D, at 6pm. A debate will follow: the guests will be Salvatore Vicari, president of the Community & Social Engagement Committee; Gianmarino Vidoni, director of the Centro di riferimento Hiv e malattie sessualmente trasmesse dell'Asl Milano, who will discuss "Universities unite against HIV: With the head and with the heart" and Sabrina Penon, representative of LILA, who will talk about technical aspects of HIV, what is true and what is not about how HIV is transmitted and treated. Finally, a video produced by Bocconi TV will be shown to promote the topics of the awareness week.
Hence, a week full of events so that disinformation will no longer be the first cause of HIV contraction.
