We are Students for Family Business, Pleased to Meet You

, by Benedetta Ciotto
Born in September, the students' association bringing all people interested in family business together is already fully functional. The recruiting date for new members will be in February 2016

Luca Maggioni, Massimiliano Pozzi and Davide Buosi met during the Family business strategies class, held by Carlo Salvato (Department of Management and Technology). Since the first lessons their interest has grown, along with the wish to analyze the subject: so, last September, the three students founded Bocconi Students for Family Business. The main goals of the association are: providing members with a cultural baggage allowing them to face a future career in this entrepreneurial context and organizing meetings with professors, researchers and managers. "This September we selected 20 associates, but next February we will recruit other members", explains Massimiliano, vice-president of the association who attends his first year of Management.

One distinctive trait of the association consists in its international nature: "We aim at creating a network made up of all similar associations operating in other business schools in the world to foster communication with different contexts on an international level", continues Massimiliano, "We've already started a partnership with the Family Business Club of St. Gallen's University, in Switzerland".

The association is still in its infancy, but it's already pretty active: on December 10 a delegation of 6 members participated in fact at the presentation of the Aub Observatory report, held in the Palazzo Mezzanotte. In this occasion the balance sheets of all Italian firms with revenues greater than 20 million euro were analyzed, focusing the attention on family firms to study their trends and strategies. "We met different personalities of Italian entrepreneurship, such as Alberto Balocco, CEO of Balocco, Edoardo Garrone, President of the Erg group, Alessandra Rubino, CEO of Kimbo and Elena Zambon, President of Zambon and of Aidaf", recounts Massimiliano, "Aidaf is the Italian chapter of the Family business network. Elena Zambon congratulated us for our initiative and she offered us her help for the development of the association and she said she will put us in contact with some business realities associated with Aidaf. We are grateful and excited for such a great beginning".
