Top Italian Jazz Musicians at Bocconi
The Civica Jazz Band, led by maestro Enrico Intra, will perform this Wednesday, 16 December 2009 at 9pm in Bocconi's Aula Magna located at Via Röntgen 1. "American and Italian Jazz Graffiti" will pay homage to US and Italian jazz and will welcome famed trumpet player Enrico Rava as a special guest. The concert will be the final event of an evening presenting the Bocconi Art Gallery (BAG), a project to promote contemporary art on display on campus. Celebrating 60 years of collaboration between Furcht Pianoforti and ISU Bocconi, the performance will be introduced by Maurizio Franco. The Civica Jazz Band will perform Jersey Bounce (Wright/Plater) and I Love You (Archer/Thompson), in homage of Goodman, followed by Basie Straight Ahead (Nestico) and Moten Swing (Moten), in homage of Basie. The concert will conclude with Roma Nun Fa La Stupida Stasera (Trovajoli), Spider Blues (Rava), Night Bird (Pieranunzi) and Zawinul (Intra).
The Civica Jazz Band led by Enrico Intra was founded in 1966 from the Civici Corsi di Jazz, conceived by the Associazione Culturale Musica Oggi and an important part of the Accademia Internazionale della Musica di Milano. Members of the group include top faculty and students from the Academy such as Emilio Soana, Giulio Visibelli, Roberto Rossi, Marco Vaggi and Tony Arco. Enrico Rava, however, does not need to be introduced to those in-the-know: he appeared on the jazz scene in the mid-Sixties and is possibly the most well-known Italian jazz musician at an international level. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public, upon availability of seats. For more information, please consult the program: www.unibocconi.it/bag (website in Italian).
