Students and Professors at the City Marathon
Rain and cold temperatures did not stop the over 12 million participants in the Milano Marathon on 15 April, including representatives from Bocconi Sport Team, participating with two relays and two athletes registered for the individual competition, Roberto Matteucci and Stefano Bolzi. The best competitive result was achieved by the relay team called "Bocconi Sport Team", which participated to support the charity Magica Cleme, made up of Alessandro Eusepi, Elena Vittone, Andrea Corvatta and Dario Laudati, placing 26th out of the over 2,000 relay teams registered and 3rd place in the mixed category, with an excellent time of 2 hours and 46 minutes. "During training we had the same time," explains Elena Vittone, representative of the Bocconi Sport Team Athletics Group and winner of two editions of the Bocconi Run. "We felt good about it, but honestly our objective was to place in the top 50. We went well beyond that."
The faculty relay team also performer well, registered under the name "Pellicani," which included Carlo Favero, Stefano Zorzoli and Debrah Meloso, who finished the race with a good time (3 hours and 36 minutes) even though they had the extra challenge of dividing the over 42km of the race into only three relay members: "The idea of the relay is great," explains Stefano Zorzoli, Associate Professor of Financial Markets, "because it allows anyone with average training to participate in this wonderful event, whereas the individual competition requires a careful and specific preparation. The relay race is also a team event and it's fun. From a point of view of performance, however," he continues, "after Debrah Meloso had run 13km, Carlo Favero and I ran our 10 plus 5 supplementary kilometers each. It was hard work."
Two other relay teams, sponsored by Accenture and made up of University students, completed the race as well: Accenture 30 (Salvatore Arcarese, Marica Caposaldo, Alessandro Maggiore, Lisa Dodesini) with a time of 3 hours and 39 minutes; and Accenture 29 (Chiara Longhi, Alexander Hazen, Giulio Vanni, Michele Caspani) in 3 hours and 40 minutes.
