Solidarity Days

, by Davide Ripamonti, translated by Richard Greenslade
On 24 and 25 February, Community Days will be back. An opportunity to do volunteer work aimed at everyone in and around Bocconi

It's a unique experience, to donate part of your time to volunteer at one of the local organizations participating in the Community Days project. The initiative is run by Bocconi University in cooperation with the student organization Students for Humanity and CIESSEVI Volunteer Services Center of the city of Milan. Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February will be event's fourth edition. "Community Days are an opportunity available to all to contribute personally to the positive development of our society", say Rector Gianmario Verona and CEO Bruno Pavesi, "Corporate social responsibility is an important value for our University, as is becoming increasingly clear. In addition to the Volunteer Desk, active at the University for four years, and the Making Sense of Profits project, which exploits knowledge acquired by students to the benefit of voluntary associations, there is also a special project developed with Pane Quotidiano, just a short walk from campus, to provide free support of the least fortunate residents of Milan. So there are many opportunities to express commitment and solidarity at Bocconi".

To participate in Community Days, students, teachers and employees who want to come need no special preparation. There will be 14 organizations making opportunities available on 24 and 25 February, in various sectors, ranging from support for children in difficult circumstances and in hospitals, to care and distributing food to the poor, and recreational, sports and musical activities after-school with kids.

From Monday 6 February, Students for Humanity will be on hand with its own information desk during the lunch break at the Velodromo and the via Sarfatti building, to promote the initiative and register people. You can also sign up and receive further information on the website of the University on the dedicated page.
