Sironi and His Rectoral Team in Charge

The Bocconi University Board has made effective the transfer of power from Guido Tabellini to Andrea Sironi. Ten Vice Rectors and Deans are also taking office

The new Bocconi Rector, Andrea Sironi, has taken office on Thursday, 4 October. The University Board resolved in its meeting of Wednesday, 3 October, to make effective the transfer of power from Guido Tabellini, Rector since 2008, to Sironi, who was designated on 20 July, as suggested by by Vice-President Luigi Guatri.

Along with the Rector, his rectoral team has also taken office. The team includes six positions as Vice Rector and five positions as school Dean.The Vice-Rectors and four Deans were appointed on 3 October, while the new Dean of the SDA Bocconi School of Management will be designated at the end of November, when the current term expires.

Marco Agliati is the new Vice-Rector for Internal Organization; Tito Boeri Vice Rector for Research; Stefano Caselli Vice Rector for International Affairs; Alberto Grando Vice Rector for Development; Lorenzo Peccati Vice Rector for the Faculty; Giovanni Valotti Vice Rector for Institutional Relations.

New Dean of the Undergraduate School is Antonella Carù; Francesco Saita is the Dean of the Graduate School; Stefano Liebman Dean of the School of Law and Alfonso Gambardella Dean of the PhD School. Alberto Grando remains in charge as Dean of the SDA Bocconi School of Management until the expiration of his term, at the end of November.

Andrea Sironi, 48 years old, is full professor of Banking and Finance at Bocconi where he has also been Dean for International Affairs until November 2008. He has previously been Dean of the Graduate School, Director of the Research Division of SDA Bocconi School of Management and Director of the Master in Risk Management (Marisk).

He has held visiting positions at the Research and Statistics Department of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, in Washington, and at the Salomon Brothers Center of the Stern School of Business of New York University. He has previously been a financial analyst at The Chase Manhattan Bank in London. Professor Sironi's research interests include Financial Risk Management and International Banking Supervision. He has published numerous books and papers in international refereed journals on these subjects.
