Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research joins Dondena Centre in the organization of Alp-Pop 2012

Four prestigious keynote speakers like Alberto Bisin (New York University), Alexia Fünkranz-Prskawetz (TU – Technische Universitaet Wien), Guy Stecklov (Hebrew University) and Laurent Toulemon (INED – Institut National d'Ètudes Démographiques), 15 papers presented in the main sessions and other 22 in the poster sessions are the impressive figures of Alp-Pop 2012. The Alpine Population Conference (La Thuile, January 15-18, 2012), an event at its second edition, jointly organized by Bocconi's Dondena Centre and Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research.

Alp-Pop promotes the meeting of scholars who are interested in population issues across several disciplines, including (but not limited to) demography, economics and sociology. The conference does not specialize on a given topic or geographical area but it emphasizes empirical rigor and innovation, as well as the ability to meet the challenges of interdisciplinary audiences.

"We have been extremely pleased by the interest of Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in flanking us in the organization of the conference", Vincenzo Galasso, Dondena's director, said. "Last year some Max Planck researchers presented their papers at the first Alp-Pop. Everyone appreciated the interaction among scholars with different backgrounds and the lively discussions at the poster sessions and the result is that this year the organizing committee includes four Bocconi and four Max Planck scholars".
