Pellicani Volleyball, Serie B in Sight

, by Davide Ripamonti, translated by Jenna Walker
The finals of the playoffs will kick off tomorrow against Scanzorosciate. The best of three matches will decide which team will move up in the league, after a season that went above and beyond expectations

Whatever happens, the finals will be a success. Because newcomers playing the last game in the playoffs to decide who advances to Serie B is not something that happens every season. The Bocconi University men's volleyball team will play an away game tomorrow evening at 9pm. It's the first game in the finals against USD Scanzorosciate, one that promises to be interesting. "This team is very strong and well-organized," says the President of the Pellicani Volley, Alberto Biffi. "And they were in our group stage in the first part of the championship." The season's precedents have been encouraging, with Biffi's players winning both head-to-head matches. The Bergamo team, however, placed higher in the rankings due to more even progress, allowing them the chance to play the potential third match at home. But the playoffs, of course, are another story. "We're playing to win, there's no doubt about that," says Biffi. "We've gotten this far and the goal is well-rooted in all of our minds and in our hands. No one thought the season would turn out like this. As we went along, our team identity grew stronger and allowed us to get here."

The second match, scheduled for 7 June at 9:15pm, will be a home game, at the Istituto Zaccaria gym, Via della Commenda 5, Milan. "We hope to see a big audience for that match," says Biffi.

The potential third match will be on 9 June, again at 9pm, in Scanzorosciate.
