A Multimedia Journey To the Roots of International Students

, by Lucia Schieppati
The new Bocconi TV format, entirely managed by foreign students, will start in the weekend. Culture, history and news about their home countries are center stage

There is a Mexican, a Russian and a German... but it's not an old joke. It's what you can see when walking around the Bocconi premises. Nearly 15% of the enrolled students come from abroad, the best part of them from European countries but a significant share from Mexico, Russia, America, China, Japan and elsewhere. International students mix up with students from all around Italy at classes, laboratories, sports events and campus life. They participate in student associations and establish new ones.

On Sunday, 9 November, Bocconi Tv will launch Roots, a new tv format which engages Bocconi foreign students: "Roots is the first international format developed at the media student center" Ennio Terrasi Borghesan, Bocconi Tv Managing Director says. "We are proud of this project and its realization, which fulfills a long felt desire".

Roots is a journey around the world which investigates the home countries of the international Bocconi students. The international team which manages the program includes Benjamin Izaguirre, Lea Hermanns and Sabine Shukyurova. "We want to visit a country a week in the rest of this term", Benjamin says. "We have already picked up Mexico, Russia and Germany. In the second term we are shifting to a country per month. We want to deal with our countries from different angles: culture, movies, economy, politics, large companies and, of course, interviews to the students".
