New cultural and educational exchange opportunities with the Swiss research center for students and researchers in the Department of Legal Studies and the PhD in International Law and Economics

Università Bocconi and the World Trade Institute (WTI) in Bern have stipulated a memorandum of understanding. It is a general agreement that opens up opportunities for cooperation for the PhD in International Law and Economics (currently Legal Studies, with a curriculum in International Law and Economics) in the area of research. The collaboration will begin over the next few months and will involve the PhD School (which will manage our PhD students hosted at the WTI: outgoing students) and the Department of Legal Studies (which will manage WTI researchers hosted at Bocconi: incoming researchers).

On Tuesday 11 March, Claudio Dordi (Department of Legal Studies) met with colleagues from the Bern research center to outline the agreement and formalize several points that will come into effect during the upcoming 2014-2015academic year. Starting in the next few months, they will aim to conduct research and organize seminars together, in part in view of a possible cooperation project for Expo 2015. "In addition to the bilateral exchange of students during the academic year, and the opportunity for students in Bern to attend the Law course at Bocconi, we would like to organize summer schools both in Italy and in Bern. Together we have decided to promote a full moot court. Based on this collaboration agreement, PhD candidates on exchange will be overseen by faculty members at the two universities: students can complete a PhD that is valid both in Italy and Switzerland. Lastly, the possibility of publishing research in high-profile international journals has been discussed," says Dordi.

According to Alfonso Gambardella (Department of Management and Technology), "the opportunity to bring together Università Bocconi and the center in Bern has the aim of advancing the exchange of ideas between researchers and faculty and increasing research activities."
Università Bocconi strongly encourages students in cultural exchange activities: workshops, seminars and events organized in collaboration with other universities both in the United States and Europe. This new agreement further broadens cooperation between study centers.
