Mario Monti Suspends Himself from His Post as President of Bocconi

, by Barbara Orlando
The decision will be valid for the entire duration of his mandate as Prime Minister. The current Vice President, Luigi Guatri, will assume the function of President of Bocconi in prof. Monti's place

Università Bocconi announces that professor Mario Monti, upon his own request, has been suspended from his function of President (post which he has covered since 1994) for the entire duration of his mandate as Prime Minister of Italy.

The function of Bocconi President for this period will be taken on by the Vice President, professor Luigi Guatri.

In the history of Bocconi the only case of suspension from the function of President occurred in the brief period in which Senator Giovanni Spadolini (Bocconi president from 1976 to 1994) held the post of Minister for Education (march 1979 to August 1979). Senator Spadolini held his post of Bocconi President during his two stints as Prime Minsiter between 1981 and 1982 and as President of the Senate (1992-94).

Professor Mario Monti, again upon his own request, has also been suspended from his post as member of the board of the Istituto Javotte Bocconi Manca di Villahermosa - Associazione Amici della Bocconi.
