Marco Onado Named Trustee of the International Accounting Standards Board
Marco Onado, Senior Contract Professor at the Bocconi Department of Finance, was named among the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, which will take effect on 1 January 2012. The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the organization responsible for issuing international accounting principles, is part of the non-profit foundation. Trustees elect members of the IASB and the other bodies at the IFRS Foundation and promote IASB activities. "The task of the Trustees is to ensure accuracy of procedures and the independence of the organization," explains Onado.
Trustees, who are in office for three years, are chosen to offer a varied representation of the different geographic areas and various professional interests necessary for developing international accounting standards. Other Italians who have served on the Trustee Board of the IFRS Foundation have included Tommaso Padoa Schioppa, who also served as Chairman.
