JEME Bocconi Organizes Business Idea Competition
The JEME Bocconi student association is promoting a competition for entrepreneurial ideas at an embryo stage (pre-start-up) in the sectors of food, urban life and mobility, and health.
The first Italian junior enterprise (established in 1988), JEME has the collaboration of other junior enterprises in Milan (JeCatt, JeComm, JeLink, JeLiuc) in addition to two important organizations, web platform Startupbusiness and Tavoli Tematici for Expo 2015, a project promoted by the Milan Chamber of Commerce to involve the economy and entrepreneurial system in opportunities generated by Expo 2015.
A panel of three people, representing JEME Bocconi, Startupbusiness and Tavoli Tematici, will choose the five best ideas to participate in the Youth table at Expo 2015. They will be judged based on the principles of innovation, social impact on the Milan area and on youth, range of population reached and usability. Three of the five winners, chosen based on development margins and financial feasibility, will win the chance to have a mentorship lasting eight weeks from JEME Bocconi and Startupbusiness.
"The idea for the competition came about on the wake of meetings with Giacomo Biraghi, coordinator of Tavoli Tematici, and Emil Abirascid, the mind behind Startupbusiness," says Federico Vigani, in his second year of the Master of Science in Economic and Social Sciences. He has been member of JEME since 2009 and is a former president of the association. "There are many initiatives focusing on start-ups, but not many for those people who have an idea in the pre-start-up stage and a strong desire to develop it."
"As JEME, we can provide important support in drawing up a business plan and a communication plan, including making available a network that has been developed over the past 25 years to the aspiring entrepreneur," adds Cesare Ancherani, in his first year of the Bachelor in Business Administration and Management. He is one of the students following the project on behalf of JEME, along with Luisa Cefalà, Matteo Crippa and Luigi Leone. "The collaboration with Startupbusiness and participation in the Youth Table will, in the end, create funding opportunities."
Anyone who would like to participate has until 24 May to submit their ideas using the form available on the website www.jeme.it or by clicking on this link.
The initiative will be presented to Bocconi students on Tuesday 14 May at 6pm in Room 13, Via Sarfatti 25.
