Innovators in San Francisco

The first events held by the new BAA Chapter in the US city focus on science and technology

The first meetings to test the waters were held around a year ago. Later, in April, an official Chapter Leader was appointed, Stefano Abbasciano, an attorney at the firm Valla&Associates in Walnut Creek. Bocconians in the Bay Area now have a point of reference at the new San Francisco chapter of the BAA. "We are increasing our contact base," explains Abbasciano, "and we have already organized a few events, including a meeting with Roberto Crea, scientist, entrepreneur and investor, one of the leading figures in San Francisco's Italian-American community and one of the scientific founders of Genentech. Several Bocconi alumni here work in the field of new technologies applied to science." One of the first actions the chapter plans to take is to create an exploratory questionnaire about the interests of the Bocconi community, which will then be used to organize a schedule of topic-based conferences.
