Forty-Six Ways to Say "Divorce"

The Dondena Centre hosts the International Divorce Conference (27-29 October 2011)

Forty-six scholars in fields as far apart as economics, demography, sociology, psychology, child development, anthropology and history will present their papers at the International Divorce Conference, the 9th meeting of the European Network on Divorce Research hosted by Bocconi's Dondena Centre for Research on Social Dynamics on 27-29 October 2011.

Twenty-four of the papers will be presented in the main sessions, other 22 in two poster sessions. The conference can, moreover, boast of three keynote speeches by Marcy Carlson (University of Wisconsin), Kathleen Kiernan (University of York) and Tim Smeeding (University of Wisconsin).

The local organizers are Arnstein Aassve, Dondena Centre's deputy director, and Frank Furstenberg, University of Pennsylvania, visiting professor at Bocconi.

The main theme of the conference will be comparative perspectives of divorce and topics addressed include the effects of divorce on both children and parents, intergenerational transmission of divorce, divorce trends everywhere, divorce risk factors.
