To Each Their Own Electrical System, Thanks to Jacopo and Marco
Jacopo Barzago (pictured on the right), a graduate in economics from Università Cattolica, and Marco Bongermino (pictured on the left), an electrical engineering graduate from Politecnico di Milano, have known each other since elementary school, but they never thought they would found a startup together. The business-project in question is called Lean Wiring and the service creates electrical systems that allow clients to design a system based on their specific needs, with the assistance of a web interface that makes the process intuitive and simple. "The idea came from a need that we ourselves experienced: we were both renovating our homes and we realized that there was a gap in the electrical systems sector on the web," says Jacopo. "Since we're in the sector, it's easier for us, but for a normal user, it's almost impossible. Online, it's hard to get an estimate or a design that specifies the exact place for lights, switches and outlets. This is the gap we intend to bridge with our business idea."
The innovation of this business idea is that it is highly customizable, from creating a design to completing the final electrical system itself. Clients get a transparent estimate, and Lean Wiring can use it during the implementation stage. "Our objective is to start from a step in the implementation process in a home to change the way the construction sector works, making it more transparent, reliable, efficient and fast," says Marco. "We know it's an ambitious project, but – with SpeedMIUp's help – we think we can succeed."
The startup led by the two recent twentysomething graduates is incubated at Speed MI Up, an initiative by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and Bocconi University (with contributions from the City of Milan), which helps and supports new entrepreneurs develope their business ideas.
