A Concert with Graduation Awards

Before the usual Bocconi piano concert on Thursday 27 April, Antonella Caru' and Marcella Boroli Balestrini will present the 2016 Achille and Giulia Boroli Foundation Graduation Awards


The ceremony during which Antonella Carù, Dean of the Bocconi University Graduate School and Marcella Boroli Balestrini, Vice President of the Foundation, will present the 2016 "Achille and Giulia Boroli Foundation" Graduation Awards will be held on Thursday 27 April at 9pm in the Aula Magna at Via Gobbi 5.

A concert performed by Francesca Bonaita on violin and Alice Baccalini on piano will follow.
The concert program includes:
César Franck, Violin Sonata in A major, Allegretto moderato-Allegro –Recitativo-Fantasia, Allegretto poco mosso
Igor Stravinskij, Suite Italienne for violin and piano, Introduzione-Serenata-Tarantella-Gavotta con due variazioni-Scherzino-Minuetto e finale
Maurice Ravel, Violin Sonata no. 2 in G major, Allegretto-Blues-Perpetuum mobile; Tzigane, rhapsody for violin and piano.

Francesca Bonaita graduated with honors from Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan at the age of 17, under the guidance of Gabriele Baffero. She received the prestigious Pina Carmirelli Award as the best female violinist graduating during that academic year. She currently works with the Russian violinist Sergei Krylov. Since 2014, she has studied at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona, a student of Salvatore Accardo, whose specialization course she attends at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She has participated in many violin masterclasses with Sergei Krylov, Dmitri Chichlov, Ilya Grubert, Francesco Manara and Pavel Vernikov.
She has performed as a soloist, in recitals and with an orchestra, and as a chamber musician in leading festivals and halls in Italy and abroad. She won first prize in several international competitions, as well as the audience award. She was awarded first prize in the category and overall as best soloist at the VI Concorso Fondazione Milano, Giovani Musicisti 2016; International Competition Soloist.eu, Vienna 2016, and first place at the American Protégé International Concerto Competition 2016, professionals category. In November 2016, she played in the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York.

Alice Baccalini graduated with honors from Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan at the age of 15. She has worked with Franco Scala and Jin Ju at Accademia di Imola, with Lev Natochenny and Nami Ejiri at Hochschule für Musik in Franfurt, with Nune and Tatevik Hairapetian and Elisso Virsaladze at Scuola di Musica in Fiesole. She debuted in the Sala Verdi at the Conservatory of Milan for dei Concerti at the age of 10. She has held concerts for leading institutions in Italy and abroad. She won the first prize at the Concorso Nazionale della Società Umanitaria in Milan for two consecutive years, in 2010 and 2011. She is very active in chamber music: in April 2008, as a trio with Caterina Demetz and Ingrid Ruko, she was awarded first prize at the Concorso Beltrami di Musica da Camera, then performing for Società dei Concerti and recording for Radio Vaticana. She has collaborated with violinists Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova and Cecilia Ziano, saxophonist Riccardo Guazzini, Quartetto Lyskamm, and pianists Emanuele Delucchi and Tatiana Larionova. At the New Year's Eve Gala, she was invited to perform "Gymnopédies" by E. Satie at Teatro alla Scala di Milano. She has taught piano at the Scuola di Musica Cluster in Milan since 2011.

The evening has been organized by the Student Affairs Division-ISU Bocconi in collaboration with the Achille and Giulia Boroli Foundation and Furcht Pianoforti.
