Chamber of Commerce and Three Milanese Universities Preparing a Warm Welcome for Foreign Students and Scholars

Milan , 6 February 2014. The Milan Chamber of Commerce and three local universities will work together to offer foreign students and professors a better welcome. This is the underlying objective of the agreement " Attracting foreign talent to the universities of Milan ", which was signed this morning at the Chamber of Commerce. It provides for cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce, the University of Milan, Università Bocconi and the Polytechnic University of Milan, and is open to the participation of other universities in town.
The Chamber of Commerce, which will contribute € 150,000 to the project in 2014, is responsible for the coordination of the Secretariat of the Working Group. Three projects to start with: M- ID (Milan ID ) , the assignment of a Milanese " identity card"; Facility Faculty Family , a range of advantages for families of foreign teachers; and Housing accommodation.
"The ability to attract talent at an international level - said Carlo Sangalli , President of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan - is an important factor of competitiveness. This project allows us to invest in human capital and , above all, it inaugurates a new method which involves operational cooperation between universities of Milan and the business community as its main strength . "

Three projects : the first project M- ID (Milan ID ) , the assignment of an " identity card" of the city of Milan to foreign students enrolled in a program of studies ( three years, two years, Ph.D, MBA) or attending an exchange semester; second, the Faculty Family Facility Project , which provides a range of advantages for families of visiting professors , including services to support the career of the partners of teachers involved (Dual career program) , aid in settling children into their new schools (Children program) and the immediate integration into urban life (Travel program and Entertainment / ​​wellness / shopping program) ; and thirdly the Housing project , the supply of private residential facilities for visiting professors and students through the involvement of associations of Realtors. Tools identified for the project include: an Internet platform with services and information , a reception area for students and faculty at participating universities and the Chamber of Commerce ; conventions (eg transport ), communication activities and the organization of meetings of the international community of students and / or professors in Milan.
The first deadline is 30 April, by which time they should launch the online portal, issue the first M- ID's and sign the first convention agreements.
