CERGAS Seeks Solutions to Food Waste
Considering that every Italian throws into the dustbin some 100 kg of still edible food every year (estimates by various sources range from 70 kg to 110 kg ), it's clear why Fondazione Cariplo and Regione Lombardia have decided to fund Foodsaving: innovazione sociale per il recupero delle eccedenze alimentari (Foodsaving: social innovation for the reutilization of food waste), a research project led by CERGAS (Bocconi's Centre for Research on Health and Social Care Management) and participated by Università Cattolica, Politecnico di Milano, Banco Alimentare (a non profit foundation which collects food surplus and redistributes it to the needy) and three Italian SMEs.
The research will analyse the best practices in terms of governance and food surplus collection processes and services in Lombardy and the World Region Forum's regions. Francesca Calò is the scientific head of the project.
In the Job opportunities section of CERGAS' website interested people can find the tenders for two research grants related to the projects (in Italian).
