Borgonovi Awarded for His Studies on Public Management
Elio Borgonovi, full professor of Economics and Management of Public Administration and president of the Centre for Research on Health and Social Care Management (Cergas) of Bocconi University, received on Friday 16 September the Doctor Honoris Causa from Université Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III, for his role as the pioneer in Italy of studies in public management.
"It is an award which has really touched me," says Borgonovi. "because it is the acknowledgement for having started, in Italy and Europe, studies on public management at the beginning of the 70s, when it was still an unknown reality. We introduced the first course in Bocconi in 1972, then in the 80s and especially 90s there was a widespread diffusion in many other Italian universities."
"The award is not however just a tribute to me," continues Borgonovi, "but to all those that collaborated with me and in particular to Bocconi, which allowed me to develop a sector of studies which was innovative when I started and which now shows itself to be crucial to revitalize the country's growth."
