The Bocconi Sport Team Hits the Slopes

, by Davide Ripamonti, translated by Jenna Walker
Bocconi Snow Days are on the agenda for 11-12 December in Cervinia. There will even be a giant slalom competition

The only thing missing now is snow. The weather forecasters are predicting some, however, which means the party can begin for Bocconi Snow Days in Cervinia from 11 to 12 December. "This is actually the Bocconi Ski and Snowboard Team's real debut," says the head of the group, Andrea Longhi, a student in the third year of the Bachelor of Business Administration and Management. "The team was founded in September 2008 and now has a total of almost 50 members."

It will be a weekend to work on teamwork, where anyone in the Bocconi Sport Team can participate. But there will also be a competitive part of the event with a giant slalom race. "It's going to be a simple competition that's not too difficult and it will open to anyone," explains Andrea. "Because the idea isn't to compete but just to get together."

Since he organized the race, and also because he's practically a professional skiier, Andrea won't be participating in the competition. "I'm about to get certified as a ski instructor and I've participated in FIS national and international competitions for years, even if my studies have become a priority for the moment. My next objective is to go to the National University Championships in February in Ponte di Legno (but the date and location may change according to where and when it snows). The competition is organized by the International Ski Federation and international athletes will participate alongside the best Italian university students." None of the other athletes on the Bocconi Ski and Snowboard Team have the required number of FIS points and so they won't be participating in the competition. But, Andrea says, "the objective of these Bocconi events is also to allow us to improve on a technical level." For information and registration: Bocconi Snow Days (information in Italian)
