Bocconi Sport Team, the sports association of the University, is planning for an uphill race on the Alps, where it will side with the Umberto Veronesi Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.

Mapei Day is a Bormio-Stelvio running and cycling race that occurs every year in mid-July. It is a steep, curvy climb of 22 kilometers ranging from 1,225 meters of altitude at the start to 2,800 meters at the top. The competition takes place in one of the most beautiful spots in the Italian Alps: Bormio is a ski resort of European renown and Stelvio hosts one of Italy's national parks. For this year's editon Bocconi Sport is teaming up with the Veronesi Foundation to show its commitment to the progress of science.

Bocconi will constitute two groups of athletes, one preparing for the bike race, the other for the run. Runners will be coordinated by Maurizio Dallocchio, and cyclists by Carlo Favero. They will train regularly, starting in March.

Bocconi students and alumni that want to rise to the challenge, which will be held on Sunday, July 11 can signal their willingness to participate in the sporting competition by sending a message to bocconisporteam@unibocconi.it that lists name, last name, e-mail address, cell phone#, and category (cycling or running).
