Bocconi Residence Life

, by Benedetta Ciotto
The students living in the seven Bocconi University residence halls are a big subset of the university community made up of sharing, enrichment and friendship

Like any metropolitan campus worth of respect, Bocconi University offers students the possibility to live in one of the 7 university residences, 6 of which are near the campus and also in the city center, for a total of about 1800 rooms available (500 of which reserved for reduced rate housing), which will become 2100 with the opening of the new campus in September 2018, which will also include a sports center. All Bocconi residence halls offer: single rooms, even if placed inside a shared apartment; a weekly cleaning service of rooms and common areas; a doorman service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; gas, water, electricity costs included; air conditioning and wi-fi internet; common areas (which vary depending on the residence), such as study rooms, TV rooms, recreational areas, gyms.

When asking students what they like about life in a Bocconi residence hall, they almost all agree in appreciating the community aspect, the fact of making many new friends that quickly become a foster family and the sharing of everyday life. "I have lived in the Isonzo residence hall until recently and what I loved about residence life is the sharing,"says Sidar Alagöz, a Turkish student in his second year of International Economics and Finance (BIEF). "I enjoy cooking for other people: once a month I bring a group of international students together for dinner to let everyone taste some Turkish food and spend some time together," he continues. "But the beauty of sharing isn't just the time spent with friends and the fact of always having someone to rely on", adds Marco Calabrò, Law student coming from near Messina (Sicily), who now lives in the Dubini residence hall. "Even when you are alone in your room living a sad or difficult moment, like studying for a hard exam, if you look out the window you can always find someone like you, alone in their room, maybe doing the same things as you, and this is heartwarming".
