Bocconi on the Podium of Reasearch Quality

The outcomes of the Research Quality Valuation 2004-2010 conducted by ANVUR are good for both the scientific areas the University studies

Università Bocconi has positively passed the Research Quality Valuation (VQR) 2004-2010 conducted by the National Agency for the Valuation of the University System and the Research (ANVUR) and presented yesterday in Rome.

Bocconi has the largest scientific impact in ANVUR's Area 13 (Economic and statistic sciences) with an overall score (the sum of the valuation of all the submitted scientific products) of 346,70, the result of the valuation of 230 researchers and 628 products. Bologna (317,15) and Padova (205,80) trail immediately behind. Seventy Bocconi researchers have got the highest possible score, in front of Bologna (35) and Padova (25). (See the table below)

Bocconi has also the highest average score in Legal Sciences (Area 12), with an average score of 0,72. Trento (0,70) and Bolzano (0,67) trail immediately behind.

VQR is the valuation of more than 180,000 research products submitted by 133 universities and research institutes. The valuation has been conducted by a Group of Experts in Valuation (GEV), made of 450 people, using the following criteria: relevance, effectiveness, innovation and internationality.Both bibliometric analysis and peer review have been considered.

ANVUR tables rank universities according to the products' average score and are differentiated by universities' dimensions. In the Economic and statistic sciences area Bocconi takes the second slot among large universities. In more detail, the first and third large departments in this area in Italy are Bocconi's Department of Economics and Department of Decision Sciences. Bocconi position is very good also in the Management subarea of the Economic and statistic sciences area: Bocconi Departments of Marketing; Management & Technology and Policy Analysis and Public Management are the first three in Italy in terms of average score.

Bocconi's Department of Legal Studies takes the first slot among large departments of the Legal Sciences area.
