Information systems scholars from all over the world will convene in the new building on via Roentgen in December 2013 for the prestigious conference of the Association for Information Systems. Bocconi's Ferdinando Pennarola, who heads the association's Italian chapter, will co-chair the symposium

The 2013 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) will return to Europe five years after the 2008 edition in Paris. The most important annual appointment in the world for IT system scholars, which brings together about 1,500 participants each year, will be hosted and organized by Bocconi. The decision was made by the Executive Committee of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), who organizes the event, during the 2009 conference in Phoenix last December.

The conference, which will take place between 15 and 18 December 2013, will take place in the building on Via Roentgen. The event will be co-chaired by Ferdinando Pennarola, Associate Professor of Organization and Management Information Systems at Bocconi and Alessandro D'Atri, Head of the Research Center on Information Systems at LUISS. The Bocconi bid was chosen since the conference will take place directly on campus and because the University has earned esteem over the years through its participation in the Italian chapter of AIS, with Pennarola as one of its founding members.

Founded in 1994, the AIS is the most important association in the world for academics and researchers specializing in information systems. The organization currently numbers 4,000 scholars from 90 countries.
