In Bocconi, the Donkey Flies

, by Susanna Della Vedova, translated by Richard Greenslade
Antonello Cuccu's art exhibition is on display in the Bocconi Restaurant Hall starting from Monday 12 November

Flying Donkey, this is the title of the exhibition inaugurated on Monday 12 November and hosted until 11 January 2019 in the Bocconi Restaurant Hall.

The title already explains a lot about the artist's way of seeing the exhibition, a way that goes well beyond the values of painting. Antonello Cuccu is in fact a conceptual artist among the most original of his generation, even though in his works he has always paid particular attention to the body of the work, combining a complex series of meanings with an equally refined interest in color, form and matter.

Anthropologically, the donkey has always been associated with an idea of service, of humility. It makes us think of the earth, weight and the toil of daily work.
"It is the opposite of the horse" says the critic Elena Pontiggia, "and it is not without meaning that in the Gospels Christ wants to enter Jerusalem on a young donkey ".
The expression "the donkey flies" (l'asino vola) indicates an absurd fact and gives it credit for a the culmination of ingenuity and survival.

"Art makes the impossible possible", continues Pontiggia, "and reverses the clichés, unmasks the falsities in which we are immersed, overturns the relations of power, but also the links of logic". This is also why the donkeys of the show fly. And the flight is not a mechanical, engineering fact, but a tension of the mind and of the heart.

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 12 am, until 11 January 2019
