Art Using Lights and Comics

Exhibits by Maciotta and Sarri at Bocconi through 10 September

Shows by artists Luciano Maciotta and Sergio Sarri were inaugurated on Monday 28 June. Both shows will be on display at Bocconi until 10 September.

Luciano Maciotta (Sala Ristorante, Mondays-Fridays 9am-12pm) is an electronic engineer who made his passion for technology the heart of his professional and artistic activities. "Maciotta combines painting developed along abstract lines with another dimension obtained by placing LED devices, sources of cold light (fueled by batteries placed within the work), on canvas with a design which allows it to connect to the painted image and give it new meaning," explains Luigi Cavadini.

Sergio Sarri (Foyer Sala Soggiorno, Mondays-Friday 8am-7pm, Saturdays 8am-3pm) is a craftsman of paintings contaminated by cinema, comics and pop culture. In the '90s, under the pseudonym SeSar, he published comics in international magazines. "Sergio Sarri's imaginary world is filled with lots of characters from the most varied areas: film, comics, television, newspapers, scientific textbooks, weekly magazines – in short, the entire system of visual communication that surrounds and conditions us at the same time. His work is kind of like channel surfing, filled with signs and signals, arrows and directions that create a possible interpretive trap. The effect is like what happens when a funny ad suddenly interrupts a dramatic film screening," writes Enzo Di Martino, talking about his work.
