The activity of the new Global Health and Development area is in good health

Published the 2008-10 activity report of the group promoted to new research area at Cergas Bocconi

Created in 2008 and promoted last December to new research area at Cergas Bocconi, the study group Global Health and Development is strong of two years of intense work on the theme of globalization and health, focusing on aspects such as equity and access to health services and the dynamics and governance of health systems in the world. Work illustrated in the 2008-10 activity report published by the area directed by Eduardo Missoni.

Among the research activity is signaled the Initiative on Attaining Universal Health Coverage, a research project financed by the Rockefeller Foundation to analyze the tools necessary to translate into reality the objective set at global level, including by the G8, of obtaining universal health coverage in developing nations. Missoni and Fabrizio Tediosi meanwhile participated in the preparatory work of the World Health Organization's2010 World Health Report. The area also participated in a project financed by Fondazione Cariplo to analyze the governance dynamics of the Ethiopian health system.

A series of feasibility and evaluation studies are also illustrated in the report, including analysis of programs of the Italian Development Cooperation, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Mozambique, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.

Regarding teaching and training, apart from numerous seminars, is signaled the inauguration last September of a course in 'Global health and development, policy making and management' available in all Bocconi's undergraduate programs and the start of a new specialization track in 'Global health and development' within the Master of International health care management, economics and policy of SDA Bocconi.
