The winning papers of the 2012 edition of the UWIN Best Paper Award will give the cue to the roundtable on the theme of gender equality which will take place on Wednesday 28th November, at 9am in room N06, piazza Sraffa 12.

The meeting will open with the keynote speeech by Alberto Alesina, professor at Harvard and Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa Visiting Professor at Bocconi, who will take cue from his paper 'On the Origins of Gender Roles: Women and the Plough'.

The award and presentation will follow of the award promoted by UniCredit & Universities Foundation, of whom Franco Bruni of Università Bocconi is president, in collaboration with UniCredit Women's International Network (UWIN), which aims to value studies on the theme of gender economics carried out by young researchers. Paola Profeta of Università Bocconi, who will chair the first session, was part of the jury committee.

This year's winners are Zoe Kuehn, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and Eva Garcia-Moran, Università della Svizzera italiana, for their paper 'With Strings Attached: Grandparent-Provided Childcare, Fertility, and Female Labor Market Outcomes', and Marta Favara, University of Essex, for her paper 'The Cost of Acting "Girly". Gender Stereotypes and Educational Choices'.

A roundtable will follow chaired by Barbara Stefanelli, deputy editor Corriere della Sera, in which will participate Elena Gennari, Banca d'Italia, Paolo Fiorentino, deputy director general UniCredit Group, Silvia Giannini deputy mayor of Bologna, and Elisabetta Magistretti.

The meeting is organized by Econpubblica Bocconi, Dondena Centre for Research of Bocconi and the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management in collaboration with UniCredit & Universities Foundation.
