“Piano Movie “pays tribute to the art of music in silent cinema. The piano is the emblem of live film accompaniment, and to celebrate this tradition pianist and composer Francesca Badalini performs the live score to a special documentary selected from the extraordinary archives of Cineteca Milano.

A graduate in Piano, Composition, and Classical Literature, Francesca Badalini teaches piano and composition at the Scuola Internazionale Musicale di Milano and Improvisation and Composition for Silent Cinema at the Civica Scuola di Musica C. Abbado in Milano. She composes music for theatre, film, musicals, audiobooks, and restored silent film DVDs. Since 1999, she has collaborated with the Cineteca Italiana, composing, improvising, and performing live music for silent films throughout Italy and at major European festivals.
