Guided tour I Macchiaioli

Program

We are delighted to offer you a guided tour of the exhibition I Macchiaioli at Palazzo Reale, led by the licensed guides of NAIADE Tour & Events.

The exhibition traces the story of the Macchiaioli movement - one of the most significant movements of nineteenth-century Italian painting - highlighting the key stages of the artistic research of its representatives and the historical context in which they worked.

Through a selection of masterpieces from important public and private collections, the exhibition explores the revolutionary technique of the “macchia” (patch or stain), based on the contrast between light and color, which anticipated some aspects of French Impressionism.

During the guided tour we will discover the works and stories of artists such as Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega, and Telemaco Signorini, exploring the themes closest to their hearts: everyday life, Tuscan landscapes, military scenes from the Risorgimento, and powerful portraits.
