Admissions for Italian Applicants

For the 2027–2028 academic year, 31 first-year class sections will be available.

In the Standard Selection Rounds, applicants may indicate up to five MSc programs within a single application. The special programs IM Asia – China MIM, IM CEMS MIM, IM Concentration – DD ESSEC Luxury Management, and IM Asia ESSEC-Bocconi Double Degree must be selected as separate choices within the online application.

The IM Global Experience and Finance Global Experience programs have a separate admissions process, requiring a dedicated application to be submitted during one of the two specific application rounds. Applicants may apply both to these programs and to other MSc programs through the Standard Selection Rounds.

The LSE-Bocconi Double Degree, Sciences Po-Bocconi Double Degree, Joint Degree in Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, and Joint Degree in Transformative Sustainability follow dedicated admissions procedures and timelines. For more information, please refer to the relevant pages in the Focus on section.

The Master of Arts in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE) has its own admissions process, with application deadlines aligned with the Standard Selection Rounds.

Applicants who receive more than one offer of admission may choose which offer to accept.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully consider their program preferences before submitting their application, as requests to change program after enrollment are subject to evaluation based on the applicant's ranking and the availability of places.

Classes will be made up of:

• 75 slots for each Master of Science class*;
• 50 slots for "Transformative Sustainability";
• 50 slots for "Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance";
• 75 slots for "Data Science and Business Analytics";
• 65 slots for "IM Global Experience";
• 65 slots for "Finance Global Experience"
• 75 slots for "Politics and Policy Analysis";
• 50 slots for the MA in "Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions";
• 130 slots for "Artificial Intelligence";
• 50 slots for Master’s Degree in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences (DAIHS).

Approximately 65% of the total available spots are made available to Bocconi applicants.

The 6 class groups of International Management (IM Concentrations, IM CEMS MIM, IM Asia - China MIM, IM Asia - DD Bocconi-ESSEC and IM DD ESSEC Luxury) include a total of 480 slots, of which 20 are reserved for IM Asia - China MIM, 25 for IM Asia – Bocconi-ESSEC Double Degree, 20 for the IM Concentration – DD ESSEC Luxury Management, and 65 for IM CEMS MIM.

With an aim towards fostering greater diversity and inclusion in the classroom, students in IM CEMS MIM, IM Asia, and IM Concentrations may attend first-year classes with students from other IM programs.

Regarding the IM Global Experience and Finance Global Experience, the goal is to form classes that are as diverse as possible in terms of nationality, gender, and background. These factors may influence the admission decisions. As a result, the Directors will review candidates' profiles during the selection process. Therefore, Bocconi applicants will not be assigned the usual 65% of places available, normally allocated to Bocconi students in MSc programs. 

Both programs contribute to Bocconi University's standing in international rankings.

Applicants to the Master’s Degree in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences (DAIHS) are required to complete a specific application on the Humanitas University web portal. Applications will be carefully examined by a joint committee of representatives from Humanitas University and Bocconi University.

Applicants who will obtain, or have already obtained, a first-cycle degree from an Italian university are eligible to apply for admission to the 2027–2028 academic year. The first-cycle degree must:

• be valid and recognized for second-cycle admission purposes;
• be awarded by October 2027 (or by the first graduation session following the summer, if scheduled after October 2027).

During the selection process, priority is given to applicants who are still enrolled in their first-cycle degree program at the time of application or who graduated no more than two years before applying. Applications from candidates who graduated earlier are considered subsequently.

Academic requirements

The table below lists, for each MSc/MA program, the Italian first-cycle degree classes that provide direct eligibility for admission. If your degree class is not among those listed, the table also specifies the curricular requirements that must be met, expressed in terms of university credits (CFU) to be earned in one or more Italian Scientific Disciplinary Sectors (SSD), as required for each MSc/MA program.

Applicants who have already graduated at the time of application must satisfy all curricular requirements by the application deadline. Any missing credits may be obtained, for example, by taking single courses or through other suitable academic activities, and must be declared in the online application.

Applicants who have not yet completed their first-cycle degree may earn any missing credits as part of their study plan at their home university. These credits must be completed by the time the Bachelor degree is awarded and no later than the deadline for obtaining the degree: by the end of October 2027 for all MSc/MA programs, or by the end of July 2027 for the IM Asia China MIM program.

Applicants holding an Italian first-cycle degree are evaluated based on the following elements:

• Test Performance
• Academic Record
• Application Dossier and Statement of Motivation

Test Performance

Applicants may choose to apply using one of the following admission tests:

• Online Bocconi Test
• GMAT/GRE

Applicants must meet the minimum required test score to be eligible for admission. If multiple test scores are available, all of them may be uploaded in the application. The system will automatically consider the most competitive score.

Please note: applicants from Politecnico di Milano are exempt from submitting an admission test when applying to the Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance or Transformative Sustainability programs, in accordance with the dedicated admission procedures.

In addition, applicants to the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE) are not required to submit an admission test, regardless of their university of origin.

Academic Record

The academic record is assessed based on the weighted grade point average (GPA) of all first-cycle examinations passed by the application deadline for the relevant admission round.

Academic information must be self-reported within the online application by completing the section dedicated to the applicant's university career. Applicants are required to declare both completed and planned examinations. Only examinations officially recorded by the application deadline for the relevant admission round will be considered for evaluation.

If admitted, applicants will be required to upload an official transcript issued by their university confirming their academic record.

Applicants who have already completed a first-cycle degree and are currently enrolled in a graduate program must not include examinations taken as part of their graduate studies, as these are not considered during the evaluation process.

Examinations completed abroad as part of an exchange program will be considered only if they have already been officially recorded on the applicant's academic transcript.

Application Dossier and Statement of Motivation

The online application includes an application dossier collecting information about the applicant's academic, professional and personal background.

Applicants are not required to upload a CV or résumé. Instead, the application includes dedicated sections covering different aspects of the applicant's profile, including:

• professional experience;
• language proficiency;
• extracurricular activities;
• IT skills;
• interests, hobbies and sports activities;
• international experience.

For each selected program, applicants must also submit a Statement of Motivation, explaining their interest in the program, their academic and professional interests, their future goals and, where relevant, any significant personal experiences.

Applicants applying to more than one program must submit a separate Statement of Motivation for each program, explaining the reasons for their choice and the value that each program would bring to their academic and professional development.

Each Statement of Motivation must be written in English and must not exceed 2,000 characters, including spaces.

Additional Evaluation Criteria

For all of these programs, the mandatory evaluation elements described above are considered (Test Performance, Academic Record, Application Dossier and program-specific Statement of Motivation). However, applicants to the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE) are not required to submit an admission test.

With the exception of Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, Transformative Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence, applicants to all of the above programs are also required to complete a video interview, following the instructions and deadlines provided during the application process.

For the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE), the video interview includes the following questions:

• Self-presentation.
• How do you evaluate your ability to go beyond your comfort zone and deal with complex situations?
• If you had to choose one value that is particularly important to you, what would it be? Describe a situation in which you put this value into practice or realized its importance.

Please note: failure to submit one or more of the required evaluation elements will result in exclusion from the admission process.

English language proficiency is not required at the application stage.

Only applicants who are admitted to an MSc program will be required to demonstrate that they meet the English language requirement during the enrollment process.

Steps to Apply for a Bocconi MSc Program:

1. Take an eligible admission test (Bocconi Online Test, GMAT or GRE).
2. Complete and submit the online application through the Apply2B portal (according to your Italian first-cycle degree class).

Applicants holding a first-cycle degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) must apply through the dedicated admission competition available on the Apply2B portal and complete the corresponding application.

The evaluation criteria are the same as those applied to all other applicants.

Applicants are considered STEM candidates if they hold, or are expected to obtain, a first-cycle degree belonging to one of the following Italian degree classes.

A €100 application fee is required to apply for admission to Bocconi MSc programs. The fee must be paid through the Bocconi Store.

Applications must be submitted online through the Apply2B portal.

As the application process consists of several steps, applicants are encouraged to start well in advance to allow sufficient time to carefully review the information provided and, if necessary, contact the relevant office for assistance.

To complete your application:

1. Access the Apply2B portal using the link provided and select your citizenship (Italy or Other).
2. In the upper-right corner, select the appropriate Applicant Category:
   • Graduate Italian (Italian applicants – MSc programs)
   • Graduate Italian (STEM) (Italian STEM applicants – MSc programs)
3. Click "Login/Register" to create your account.
4. Select "Find Programs" to start your application.
5. Complete all the required sections following the order indicated by the system.
6. Once you have completed your application, click "Submit" to submit it.

You may edit your application until the deadline of the admission round you have applied for. After making any changes, remember to click "Submit" again to save your updates and resubmit your application.

Required Documents

The following documents are required:

• a valid identity document;
• the score report for one of the accepted admission tests (Bocconi Online Test, GMAT or GRE)*;
• proof of payment of the €100 application fee.

* To submit an application, applicants must have already taken one of the accepted admission tests (Bocconi Online Test, GMAT or GRE) and obtained their test score.

Please note that taking the Bocconi Online Test, whether once or multiple times, does not automatically register an applicant for an admission round. To participate in the selection process, applicants must submit an application within the relevant deadlines. Test scores are not automatically imported into the application. Applicants who have taken the Bocconi Online Test more than once may choose which score to submit for evaluation.

Applications for Bocconi MSc programs, including the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE), must be submitted according to the application schedule below.

The application deadlines are strict and apply equally to both STEM applicants and applicants from all other academic backgrounds.

Applicants interested in the IM Global Experience, Finance Global Experience, Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, or Transformative Sustainability programs should refer to the dedicated pages available in the Focus on section for detailed admission information.

Applicants may apply simultaneously to the MSc programs available through the two Standard Selection Rounds and to one or more of the above programs, each of which follows a dedicated admissions procedure.

Please note: applicants who are not admitted, or who are admitted but choose not to enroll, may submit a new application in a subsequent admission round. Applicants who have already enrolled must formally withdraw from the program before submitting a new application.

Applicants who receive an offer of admission both to a Global Experience program and to another Bocconi MSc program may choose which offer to accept for enrollment.

Applicants who submit a complete application are included in a single admission ranking for the admission competition to which they have applied.

The admission ranking, which determines whether an applicant is offered admission, is based on the following evaluation elements:

• admission test performance (Bocconi Online Test, GMAT or GRE);
• academic performance in the first-cycle degree program;
• application dossier and Statement of Motivation.

Please note that the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions (GLOBE) does not require an admission test.

The IM Global Experience, Finance Global Experience, Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, and Transformative Sustainability programs follow separate admissions procedures with dedicated evaluation criteria and timelines.

Places are allocated in descending order of the applicants' overall ranking. Each applicant is first considered for admission to their first-choice program, subject to availability. If no place is available, the applicant is considered for their subsequent preferences (up to a maximum of four additional choices), according to their ranking and the remaining places available in each program.
