Prison Project

Over the course of a decade, six incarcerated students have reached a graduation milestone thanks to Bocconi’s Progetto Carceri. Their paths crossed, each different from the next, yet they were all marked by the same things — prison time and the revelation that studying can be a way out. The stories of Mattia Teofilo, Denis Donvito and Altin Sheshi tell of the difficult transition from prison to university, and of being released and entering the workforce.

For 10 years, the Bocconi Prison Project has given incarcerated people the opportunity to attend the Bachelor of Science program in Economia aziendale e management. It is not only a path of study, but also a form of accountability and reintegration that has so far enabled six students to graduate, with employment representing a crucial next step in building a second chance
