Online Bocconi test for Specialized Masters

Bocconi test: structure, time management and how to prepare for it

The Bocconi selection test for Specialized Master Programs consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and evaluates general reasoning abilities across five areas: logical-mathematical reasoning, critical-verbal reasoning, problem solving, abstract reasoning, and numerical reasoning.

The test is structured into five areas:

  • 10 questions – Logical-mathematical reasoning

These questions assess the ability to identify numerical relationships, use calculation to solve problems, and apply intuitive and logical thinking.

  • 15 questions – Critical-verbal reasoning

Based on short texts, they measure the ability to draw inferences, reach coherent conclusions, and connect concepts through logical reasoning.

  • 15 questions – Problem solving

Including items based on tables/graphs and deductive reasoning, this section tests data analysis and interpretation, comparison of information, and the ability to break down a problem to reach effective solutions.

  • 5 questions – Abstract reasoning

These questions evaluate the recognition of logical and quantitative relationships, the ability to identify implicit rules, generalize, and draw coherent conclusions while avoiding cognitive biases.

  • 5 questions – Numerical reasoning

Focused on sequences of numbers or letters, they assess the ability to identify patterns, formulate and verify hypotheses, and adapt reasoning when a rule does not apply.

You can choose to take the Bocconi selection test either in Italian or in English, according to your preference and regardless of the language of the program you are applying for.

The Online Bocconi test lasts 75 minutes.

The questions are presented in a mixed sequence, both in terms of topic and level of difficulty.

The time required to answer each question may vary depending on the type of reasoning involved.
It is therefore important to work on time management, the ability to move smoothly across different topics, and the development of a personal strategy based on your strengths and areas for improvement.

The test score will be assigned as follows:

  • +1 point for each correct answer
  • 0 points for each omitted answer
  • –0.20 points for each incorrect answer

Applicants should refer to the number of correct answers and to the total score reported in their score report as an indication of their performance.

The test is delivered in a sequential format: applicants can view the questions in sets of three. Once they have completed them and click “Next,” they will not be able to go back, and the next set of three questions will be displayed.

Bocconi University is committed to providing equal opportunities and tailored support for applicants with disabilities (temporary or permanent) and applicants with learning disorders who are taking the online Bocconi test.

Applicants who wish to receive support measures during the test must submit a dedicated request form at least 5 working days before their test date, including a recent medical report or certification and a copy of their identity document.

[Form available in January 2026]

Based on a careful evaluation of each request, Bocconi University may grant appropriate accommodations, such as extended time or other specific support (e.g., integrated on-screen calculator, tutor, forms).

If specific accommodations are granted, the candidate will receive a code to enter when purchasing their test attempt or in their web-testing platform account at least 24 hours before the test
Approved support measures will apply to all test attempts within the same admissions cycle; however, the candidate must re-enter the code for each subsequent attempt.

For questions or further instructions, applicants may contact selection.support@unibocconi.it

There are no official Bocconi preparation textbooks for the test. Candidates may prepare using any materials they consider appropriate, at their own discretion.

To practice for the test, we recommend using the simulation available in the “Focus on” section. The simulation allows users to view the correct answer and explains why it is correct.
