Movies at Bocconi, Starring Rivalry

, by Davide Ripamonti, translated by Jenna Walker
Competition is the theme at the heart of the festival’s third edition

The event will kick off Thursday 29 January at 8pm in room P02, with Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris's Little Miss Sunshine. The third edition of "Cinema in Bocconi," organized by the ACTH Association (Art, Culture and Theater at Bocconi) focuses on the theme "Rivalry and competition."

This theme is dear to Bocconi and its students, but is not always looked at from a strictly economic viewpoint in the film series. The movies scheduled to air include Christopher Nolan's The Prestige, Quando arrivano le ragazze? about rivalries in the workplace and directed by Pupi Avati, as well as Francois Truffaut's Jules et Jim, about competition for love. There will be a debate after each screening, featuring guests from outside the University, as well a Bocconi faculty member, chosen for their expertise on the movie's theme. Previous editions, for example, welcomed the participation of Piero Grasso, Enrico Mentana and Mario Monicelli.

Anyone interested in a calendar of events and a list of participating guests should register for the mailing list by writing to cinemainbocconi@unibocconi.it.
