European Management in the Hands of Two Bocconi Professors
Two Bocconi professors, Alfonso Gambardella, Full Professor of Economics and Corporate Management, and Maurizio Zollo, holder of the Rector's chair in Strategy and Social Responsibility, are the new editors of the European Management Review (EMR). The European Academy of Management (EURAM), the association of European management academics and professionals produces the scholarly journal, which is edited by Palgrave Macmillan. The appointment of the two professors is an important confirmation of Bocconi's leadership in management studies.
In the first issue of EMR edited by Gambardella and Zollo, their editorial describes their plans for the future of the journal, placing the topic of better production of management research at a global level and defining the main topics and themes that will characterize the journal during their management.
Some of the values included in the article are an outstanding level of quality of the works published, which will be the subject to EMR's review; a variety of approaches and viewpoints, including less orthodox ideas supported by rigorous methodology; the influence of scholarly debate on management, pursued through content with broad social and political implications; methodological rigor, an absolute must for papers providing important contributions to themes that have already been explored, providing innovative ideas and criteria for further research; as well as speed and efficiency in the editing process.
The two editors, who succeed Bruce Kogut, one of the most illustrious professors of Strategy at a global level, also suggest research areas they would like to see in EMR, a point of reference for the international academic community: business theory, including sustainability and social responsibility; management and organization micro-foundations, such as psychology and neurology; entrepreneurship in a broad sense of the term, which includes research and the utilization of innovation and internal change; growth, learning and change dynamics in consolidated companies; as well as the dynamics of business reputation and social capital.
