The lecture
Innovation is the fundamental engine of economic growth. At the macroeconomic level, technological progress emerges as an endogenous mechanism propelling economic dynamism. At the microeconomic level, innovation unfolds through new ventures and established companies, characterized by collaborative interactions between individuals and firms adopting open innovation models. This lecture critically examines innovation by exploring the incentive structures and strategic interactions underlying different forms of collaboration. What friction points disrupt the smooth functioning of the innovation process and growth mechanism? The analysis will provide insights into the complex dynamics of innovation, revealing the critical interplay between motivational factors, institutional frameworks, and collaborative strategies that either facilitate or hinder technological progress.
