Travelling Between the 19th and 20th Centuries
A fascinating journey through the history of tourism between the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring brochures by jurist Attilio Brunialti (1849–1920), held at Bocconi Library.
How was tourism different back then, and what insights can it offer those working on tourism policies today?
Bocconi Library & Archives invites you to explore these questions through a new virtual exhibition dedicated to the Brunialti Collection. This digital exhibition showcases a selection of historical brochures, offering insights into the evolution of tourism and the ways it has been promoted over time.
The exhibition also marks an important step forward in Bocconi Library & Archives' digital innovation journey. It was entirely designed and created using Alma Specto, the new Ex Libris (Clarivate) platform adopted by the Library in 2026 to manage and showcase its digital collections.
Alma Specto integrates artificial intelligence technologies to support the description and enrichment of digital resource metadata, facilitating their organization, searchability, and discovery. Through its Exhibition Builder feature, integrated with the Wix platform, it also enables the creation of online exhibitions based on digital collections managed in Alma, bringing together historical documents, images, and bibliographic information to offer new opportunities for exploration and discovery.
The exhibition dedicated to the Brunialti Collection is a concrete example of how this technology can help make historical and documentary heritage more accessible, visible, and engaging, creating new connections between collections, research, and the wider public.
The virtual exhibition is freely accessible to everyone.
