Information for enrollment to AY 2026-27

To finalize your enrollment at Bocconi, if you have a non-EU citizenship, you are required to:

  • apply for and obtain a student visa (Type D), before coming to Italy;
  • apply for a "Permit of stay" for study purposes, once in Italy.

Please be aware that you must be compliant with all immigration rules and regulations to complete your enrollment at Bocconi and come to Italy. Please visit http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en where a guided procedure will help you decide if you need to apply for a visa and where, based on your nationality, country of residence, reasons for your visit, and length of stay.

If you are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master of Science program, regardless of your date of arrival in Milan, you MUST submit your application on the Universitaly Portal by and no later than 30 September of the year of enrollment. We recommend that you apply as soon as you have all the documents required for the procedures.
If you are enrolled in a Specialized Master program, you must submit your application via Universitaly according to the timeline of your program.
If you are an incoming visiting student taking single courses, you must follow the timeline of the semester you are attending.

In order to access the Universitaly portal, you need to:

  1. Register if it’s your first access from: https://universitaly-private.cineca.it/index.php/auth
    You will then receive an email after your registration with the Universitaly credentials (username and password) to access the portal.
  2. Access the Universitaly portal from the following link: https://universitaly-private.cineca.it/index.php/auth with the username and password you have received after registration.
  3. At first access, you will be asked to change your personal password. After changing the password, you will be able to access your Reserved area of the Universitaly portal
  4. From here, you can click on the “Pre-enrolment application” link and again on the “New pre-enrollment application” green button

For the registration, we remind you that you must enter your personal data exactly as shown on your passport with all your names and surnames.

Then you will need to fill out a 3-step form:

STEP A

Check the correctness of your personal data and contacts, and complete the missing information.

STEP B:

Fill out the form with your passport number and expiration date, then upload a copy of your passport (first 2 pages) and a passport-size picture of your face.

Select the country and the Italian Authority (Embassy or Consulate) where you will apply for your visa, then specify the reason why you are requesting a visa:

  • For students enrolling in a Bachelor, MSc, or Specialized Master program, please select the option "I want to enroll in a study course".
  • For incoming visiting students, please select the option "visiting students and free movers".

Select the type of Institution (Università) and the Institution Name ("Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi"), then select the Course Type:

  • In case you are enrolled in a Bachelor program, please select “Laurea”
  • In case you are enrolled in an MSc program, please select “Laurea Magistrale”
  • In case you are enrolled in a specialized Master's program, please select “Master universitario di primo livello” (I level) or “Master Universitario di secondo livello” (II level)
  • In case you are an incoming Visiting student, please select “Corso/i singolo/i – Single course(s).”

Enter your Bocconi User ID (it is a 7-digit Reference code – example: 3XXXXXX)

STEP C

Provide information on your educational qualifications and upload them to the system. Please note that in this section, you have to upload the same documents requested for your Bocconi enrollment application (see below). We highly recommend that you start your application on Universitaly ONLY when you already have all the documents required for the procedure.

For students enrolled in a BACHELOR PROGRAM, these may include:

  1. Bocconi admission result and a Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.
  2. The last three years of secondary school transcripts.
  3. Final secondary school diploma and/or official proof of graduation.

For students enrolled in a MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAM, these may include:

  1. Bocconi admission result and Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.
  2. Most updated University transcripts.
  3. Bachelor diploma and/or official proof of graduation.
  4. Diploma supplement (if available).

For students enrolled in a SPECIALIZED MASTER PROGRAM, these may include:

  1. Bocconi admission result and Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal
  2. Most updated University transcripts
  3. Bachelor or Master of Science diploma (according to the program of enrollment)
  4. Diploma supplement (if available).

For students accepted as incoming VISITING STUDENTS (SINGLE COURSES):

  1. Official Admission results that can be downloaded directly from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.

On the Universitaly portal, you will be asked to select the type of document you are uploading. If you cannot find the proper option, please select “Other” (for example: the Bocconi official Admission result, Confirmation letter).

In case you have been awarded with some sort of financial aid and/or accommodation from Bocconi Fees, Funding & Housing Office, please upload the official result in the Universitaly application.

All documents are required both in their original language and in English or Italian. If the documents are not issued by the school/university in English or Italian, they should be legally translated.

Once you have submitted the application through the Universitaly Portal, the Admissions will verify the information you entered in the following weeks:

  • In case some of the required documents are missing or your personal data is incorrect, you will be required to integrate the pre-enrollment application with the missing information and resubmit it.
  • In case the information entered and the documents uploaded are correct, the application will be "validated" and sent to the competent Italian authority in your home country.

Once the application has been validated, it will be sent to the Italian Authority you selected as in charge of your visa procedure. After this step, you will receive a confirmation from the system, and only after that, you will be able to download the “Pre-enrollment receipts” directly from the Universitaly portal. You will then need to get in contact with the same Italian Authority to book your visa appointment and to complete the pre-enrollment procedure. As a matter of fact, the student visa procedure does not consist only of the application to Universitaly, but it includes further steps to be completed at your Embassy/Consulate.

Please pay particular attention to the required documents and ensure that you attend the appointment at Italian Consular Authority with the complete set of requested documentation, as in the event of a visa refusal it will not be possible to reapply, and the University will proceed with the cancellation of the enrolment.

Please consider that even if the University does not need to verify the Declaration of Value for the diploma or degree qualification, the Consular Authorities may still require, as a condition for issuing the study visa, either the Statements of Comparability and Verification issued by CIMEA or the Declaration of Value issued by Italian Consular Authorities.
In this case, it will be necessary to follow the instructions of the competent Consular Authorities; the University has no jurisdiction to intervene in this decision

We strongly recommend, therefore, that you act promptly and check the complete list of required documents to issue your study visa and should one of these Statements be required, please note that this process may require time.

Please note that the strongly recommended deadline to obtain a study visa is 30 August 2026, in line with the beginning of academic activities.

In any case, visas issued after 30 September 2026 are not considered compatible with the regular attendance of academic activities, nor with the administrative timelines required for the completion of pending procedures and access to potential funding opportunities.

We remind you that, as soon as you receive your student visa, you will be asked to upload a copy through the online Admission Portal. This step is compulsory in order to finalize your enrollment. Without such documentation, your enrollment status will remain “under reserve”.

Please note carefully that the final deadline for submitting a valid study visa (Type D) to the Admissions Office is 14 October 2026 for students admitted to the a.y. 2026/27. After this date, should no valid visa be provided, the enrollment will be cancelled.

IMPORTANT: For technical assistance on Universitaly, please contact the Help Desk

Within 8 working days from your arrival in Italy holding a valid student visa, you must apply for a permit of stay for study purposes ("Permesso di soggiorno per motivi di studio").

The application for the permit of stay must be submitted at a competent Post Office. After the application, you will receive 1 or 2 payment receipts and a sheet with the date of your appointment at the local Police Office “Questura - Ufficio Stranieri”.

Further guidance about this procedure will be provided during the Welcome Days at the end of August of the year of enrollment.

Please note that, after the application at the Post Office, you are required to upload the receipts and the sheet with the appointment date at “Questura” in the dedicated section in your enrollment application. These documents are compulsory to finalize your enrollment.

1. Statements of Comparability and Verification (CIMEA)

The Statements can be requested online directly through the CIMEA platform.

The Statements generally confirm:

  • the accreditation and legal status of the awarding institution;
  • the validity of the qualification in the country where it was issued;
  • the level and duration of the qualification;
  • the authenticity of the academic credential.

Students are strongly encouraged to start the request procedure as soon as possible after admission and after graduation.

2. Declaration of Value (DoV) – Bachelor of Science Programs

The Declaration of Value (DoV) is an official document issued in Italian by the competent Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) in the country to which the educational system of the school refers.

When specifically required, the DoV is a compulsory condition for the secondary school diploma to be considered valid for enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program.

The Declaration of Value should confirm:

  • the legal status and nature of the awarding institution;
  • that the final diploma has been awarded after at least 12 years of education;
  • that the diploma allows access to first-level university studies in the relevant educational system;
  • if applicable, that the student has passed any required university entrance examination (e.g., Gaokao, YKS, Panelladikés Exetáseis, Vestibular, etc.).

Students are strongly recommended to contact the competent Italian Authorities immediately after admission and graduation to verify procedures and timelines.

If required in the admission portal, the DoV must also be uploaded directly by the student through the enrollment application by late August/early September of the enrollment year.

Please note that Italian Embassies/Consulates do not send documents directly to Bocconi University.

3. Declaration of Value (DoV) – Master of Science Programs

The Declaration of Value (DoV) for Master of Science enrollment refers to the student’s undergraduate qualification (Bachelor level).

The document is issued by the competent Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) in the country to which the educational system of the awarding university refers.

When specifically required in the admission result, the DoV is a compulsory condition for enrollment.

The Declaration of Value generally includes:

  • the accreditation and legal status of the awarding institution;
  • admission requirements to the degree program;
  • legal duration of studies and overall workload (credits/hours);
  • the academic and/or professional validity of the qualification in the awarding country.

If the student’s university participates in the Bologna Process, Bocconi may also evaluate a Diploma Supplement as an alternative document.

Students are strongly encouraged to upload the DoV (or alternative documentation, if applicable) through the enrollment application as soon as available, preferably by the end of August/beginning of September of the enrollment year.
