FORMALIZING AN INTERNSHIP

The process of formalizing an internship takes place on JobGate, the Bocconi portal which enables Company/Institution to:

  • Request internship activation
  • Check the status of activation request
  • Print internship documentation
  • Manage active internships (request changes in internship status)
  • Complete internship evaluations
  • To set up each new internship, the University prepares an Internship Agreement, an agreement undersigned by legal representatives of the University and the Company/Institution, and by the intern, containing rights and duties of the parties as well as the individual educational project.
The internship agreement is an indispensable document for setting up any internship and must be signed before the experience begins.

How to manage changes in internship status:

    • Temporary breaks: Bocconi must be informed of any temporary breaks for reasons such as company closings, public holiday, illness, so that it may update insurance coverage. Temporary breaks cannot exceed 30 days. This period can be made up for at the end of the internship with an extension and must be notified by the company in this section. Please pay special attention in case of curricular internships with academic credits in order to meet the required minimum duration. Bocconi does not need to be notified of temporary breaks related to the day of University exams.
    • Extensions: Internship extensions can be requested. Please note that the total duration of internships cannot exceed 6 months, including extensions.
    • Cancellations: Please remember that all internships (both curricular and non-curricular) may not be cancelled unless for serious and motivated reasons; any breaks must be communicated in advance by the Company/Institution, which must indicate the reasons. This communication must be completed through the University portal and authenticated therein. Otherwise, a penalty of one month will be applied towards the intern, during which time he/she will not be allowed to start another internship.
