Support for students with learning disorders

Learning Differences at Bocconi University: Support for university students with learning disorders

Learning disorders are a reality for many university students who will one day become accomplished and skilled professionals. While having dyslexia or dyscalculia is by no means an impediment to academic or professional success, the presence of these neuro-differences requires extra care when studying. It may be necessary to develop a strategic study method tailored to meet students’ specific needs while at the same time optimizing their areas of strength.

Bocconi University is offering a dedicated Learning Needs Help Desk for all students with academic needs. In addition a peer-to-peer student tutoring program is offered to students with learning disorders.

The Learning Needs Help Desk
service is designed to offer each student with learning needs the chance to receive
specialized counseling customized to their own situation.

The desk will offer students
with learning needs an opportunity to learn more about the way their brain
works, become fully aware of their cognitive resources, and receive hands-on
tips on how to optimize their study methods given their unique situation and
needs.

The service is available in
Italian and in English by appointment, in person or online, every Thursday, from 11 am to 2 pm.

The first meeting for the first semester of the a.y. 23-24 is 31 August 2023.

To book an appointment, please write an email to learningneeds.hd@unibocconi.it

The service is carried out by Milena Milani, Educational Psychologist
and Psychotherapist and member of the British Dyslexia Association.

In October 2021, we launched a Learning Needs Help Desk specifically dedicated to students with learning disorders.
Since February 2022, the second phase of the project - the Peer to Peer Learning Project - has got underway!

Through this project SpLd students will have the opportunity to receive peer support from Italian and international student volunteers who have received a specific training on LD topics.
Taking part in the Peer to Peer Tutoring Project you will meet your fellow student(s) that will support you in studying and preparing for exams

All phases of the project will be coordinated by Dr Milena Milani, educational psychologist and member of the British Dyslexia Association

The Peer to Peer Tutoring Project will restart at the end of September 2023.
