International Case Competitions & Simulations

Bocconi students are invited to attend international simulations or competitions organized by the top universities and institutions.

Teams from around the world will participate in either specific academic programs (essay competitions, Summer Academy, etc.) or in interactive educational simulations (Model UN, European Institutions, etc.) in which students role-play different positions/countries/institutions and face international crisis or solve real-life cases in all disciplines from multi-national companies.

Students will greatly benefit from participation in these international events, which include lectures and presentations by distinguished academics and experts from all over the world on topics that are at the forefront of the international agenda. You will also have the chance to gain valuable cross-cultural experience through interaction and intellectual exchange with counterparts from countries all over the world, all reflecting their unique social, cultural and historical heritage.

Furthermore, as the events usually include briefings on and visits to important historical and cultural sites in the host country, participants will also be given a better insight into the host country.

Business Competitions

The competition format is a tournament consisting of one or more business cases, usually drawn from existing organizations facing real life business challenges.
With a given amount of hours to prepare, teams of three-four students analyze and evaluate business cases using the skills, knowledge and experience they have acquired from their respective curricula. Once preparation is complete, they present their strategic solutions and detailed plan of action to a jury (usually a panel of academics and senior business executives). Teams are typically judged on creativity, insight, substance, plausibility of implementation, etc.

Essay Competitions & Conferences

Bocconi students are invited to present papers and attend conferences or seminars on issues that are at the forefront of the international agenda. Students who present the best papers will be eligible to win awards.

Simulations and European Weeks

Through workshops, conferences and simulations of the European Parliament or the United Nations, participants work on their ability to tackle international issues and develop negotiation skills by assuming the role of a nation's (or institution's) representative. Students will be asked to enter into the assigned role with great accuracy, covering everyaspect of the issue/position.
