Centre for research on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs
Establishment, objectives and structure The Centre has been promoted by Bocconi Universitys Institute of Strategic Management and Institute of Economic History. Its objective is to place the University within the international network of institutions dedicated to the
study of entrepreneurship. The Centre aims to develop a distinctive research domain focusing on specific features of Italian capitalism, with a medium to long term evolutionary perspective (going back at least to the 1970s).
The Centre endeavours to offer the Universitys students a welcoming environment in order to favour the growth of entrepreneurial initiatives.
Our aim is also to develop the entrepreneurial spirit of large enterprises. The guidelines for this type of activity will be identified on a case-by-case basis. Thus, the Centre intends to act as a catalyst by responding to students needs for in-depth discussion on entrepreneurship topics, through the analysis of specific issues relating to entrepreneurship models. It also aims to assist entrepreneurial associations and policy makers in understanding how entrepreneurial dynamics work, especially in the start-up phase, and in identifying past and future paths so that they may stimulate the creation of new and autonomous initiatives. Moreover, the Centre aims to target individuals from financial communities and large enterprises, who may be interested in corporate entrepreneurship and how it may be developed.
In general, the Centres underlying strategic orientation is the recognition of the scarcity of
"entrepreneurship".
We believe this resource needs to be constantly optimised and carefully sustained through educational and training activities. This premise guides the scientific and teaching activities of the Centre. We are convinced that an improved knowledge of the dynamics underlying the birth and development of entrepreneurial roles is the necessary premise in
order to sustain the diffusion of autonomous energies and in order for them to be
creative and responsive to the requirements of a complex social system.
