CREDI, the "Ariberto Mignoli" Center for European Research on Business Law and History, was established to coordinate and carry out research in the areas of business law, company contracts, corporate criminal law, labor law, bankruptcy and corporate reorganization, corporate taxation and fiscal policy, market regulation, intellectual property and competition law. Processes of market opening and integration and EU judicial cooperation form the context for examining these topics.

The Center applies the principles, methodologies and research tools used in the social sciences (legal studies, history and economic analysis), with special attention given to the European perspective and comparative analysis. Emphasis is also placed on interdisciplinary connections, both within the Center's fields of legal study and in relation to economics and business studies.

Within its areas of research, CREDI's activities include:

  • promoting, coordinating and carrying out studies and research projects independently and in conjunction with other public and private institutions, both in Italy and abroad;
  • sponsoring research programs;
  • promoting and organizing conventions, meetings, seminars, debates and other informative initiatives on pure and applied research;
  • archival activities, through observatories and/or laboratories, and publishing studies to disseminate the results of its research;
  • promoting and implementing structured collaborations with scholars and research institutes working in Italy and/or other countries on institutional issues handled by the Center.
